WinDrive goes Husum
HusumEnergy 2010 Premiere

At Voith Turbo Wind's booth C10 in Hall 2 an actual WinDrive can be seen for the very first time. The innovation that has won last years Hermes Award, dubbed "The Oscar for Engineers" allows for the first time in wind power history the use of power station proven synchronous generators. Beside the excellent feed-in quality a significant rise in turbine availability are the two key advantages. The WinDrive on display at Husum is one out of four prototypes that will be called into action in 2011 on board of the new BARD 6.5 offshore wind turbine.

May 11-12, 2010 in Crailsheim

Over 40 participants from 3 continents representing major wind turbine makers, wind turbine engineering companies as well as wind park operators and grid companies were hosted by Voith Turbo Wind in Crailsheim for two days. After a hands-on off-shore team building event, speakers from DigSilent, DeWind and BARD gave insights into wind power grid integration, wind turbine field experience as well a the latest in offshore wind power technology. The highlight of the event was the live demonstration test run of the "next generation" WinDrive prototype developed for BARD's record breaking 6.5 MW offshore wind turbine. Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from all participants Voith is already looking forward to prepare for the next customer event while the WinDrive success story continues.
