Floating Crane |
 |
Right from the start, floating cranes were an ideal area of application for the VSP. They can make optimum use of its capacity for sensitive thrust control in the longitudinal and transverse directions for accurate positioning - without the help of tugs or guy ropes. Thanks to the VSP's excellent maneuverability, the crane can pick up and set down loads with pin-point precision despite wind and current acting on the hull and superstructure. For floating cranes, one propeller is generally fitted to the stern and one to the bow of the ship, the shape of which resembles a pontoon. They can also be arranged with a slight diagonal offset or supplemented by a third VSP at the bow or stern.
