For decoupled wheels |
 |
The bevel gear which is situated on the input shaft drives the differential basket via the spur bevel gear. Here, the power flow is divided. If one drive wheel runs faster than the other one, planetary gears are transporting oil into the gap of the differential gear and hydrostatically decelerate the faster drive wheel. Owing to the additional hydrostatic torque, the slower drive wheel is thus accelerated.
