Quill shaft final drive

Bevel gear drives which are connected to the axle via compensation couplings have low unsprung masses. With electrical drives, the drive motor or motors can be suspended in the bogie or in the vehicle frame. Bevel gear drives that are directly connected with the drive motor are used as so-called mono motor drives in underground and city rail systems or trams.
